I’ve got sparks on Mr. Sparks
This is the part where my cheesy, emotional self gets the best of me. Don’t say you weren’t warned. :-))
Nicholas Sparks..I am in love with this author! =) (Although of course, he only comes second to Flip! But that’s another story..)
Never mind Edward Cullen and all the current hype about the Twilight saga. I never really did become obsessive about them nor like everything that much about them anyway. I’m taking the odd, quiet, simple, hype-less road which may even seem boring to some. Nicholas Sparks to me is what Edward Cullen is to some girls. Without of course the screaming-I’ve-been-Cullenized-I-need-my-own-vampire-boyfriend kind of way. ;)
I started reading Nicholas Sparks’ novels when I was about 17 (already 6 years ago!). I started with “A Walk To Remember” and have been reading almost all of his books since then. Back then, although I liked his works and regarded him as a fine author, I wasn’t really as fond of him and his books as I am now.
I’m currently reading his latest books. I finished reading “The Choice” today and it’s the very first time that I started tearing up while reading his book (his other books are also tearjerkers, by the way). Towards the end of the book, what was happening and the choice of words were just so..wonderful and so moving that my own heart was practically aching. I can’t wait to start reading next my copy of “At First Sight”. I don’t exactly know what has happened since the last time I read a book of his, but my golly, Nicholas Sparks has definitely taken a hold of my heart! (Sooo cheesy, I know!) This man is amazing and I think all guys need to be like him. My ideal husband is definitely like him. heh! The way he writes…he’s so sensitive about women and you can really sense that he respects them as individuals. He’s a family man with faith in God in spite of the struggles, passionate about life, romantic without a doubt, vulnerable but in a very manly way..just all the dreamy qualities a girl can picture for her man. =) No wonder he has a lot of female fans who are always so giddy about him. This is the man after all who was once voted as “Sexiest Author” by the People magazine. But that doesn’t mean men don’t read his books. I know for a fact that my uncle and a male friend do read his books. And no, they’re not gay or anything like that! :)
I have read almost everything there is on the net about Nicholas Sparks: his autobio in his web site, or all the pages on his web site for that matter (I especially liked knowing these facts about him); the article at Wikipedia about him, the reviews on some of his books at Amazon.com, some blog entries by different people that showed up on Google. I’ve also watched some videos of him talking about his books. It’s somewhat nice to learn that most of his books are based on tragic events in his family. I can’t help but feel compassion for him, and his family as well. He also had me convinced to someday visit North Carolina and see for myself the beauty of the quaint and sort of rustic small towns he served as settings for his novels.
He is so successful as an author because his stories never cease to touch the hearts of his readers. And his books are always easy-reads, yet contain so much emotion. I hope to someday meet Nicholas Sparks in maybe one of his book signings here in California and hopefully thank him for the precious pieces of literature he has shared with the world, and let him know as well that his wife and family are so blessed to have him. =)
